Abi & Ben – The Oak Barn Wedding Venue

Nestled in the rolling Devon countryside to the north-east of Dartmoor National Park and just 15 miles from the vibrant city of Exeter lies the rural parish of Hittisleigh.

Home to the beautiful St Andrews Church and the once famed pirate Samuel Bellamy.  Today Hittisleigh is probably better known for being the home of The Oak Barn, the stunning thatched barn conversion popular for hosting weddings and events.

Abi and Ben had chosen The Oak Barn at Hittisleigh to celebrate their marriage with family and friends. We were contacted by Abi & Ben when they were looking for a wedding cater for their Devon wedding. We are a recommended cater for The Oak Barn and over the years have catered for thousands of weddings guests at this special venue.

Requesting a copy of our Wedding Collections menus was a great start and gave the couple plenty of ideas for their wedding catering. We prepare every dish fresh and from scratch using the very best of locally sourced ingredients giving us the ability to bespoke the catering to individual and guest requirements. Abi & Ben opted for a handcrafted full Wedding Breakfast catering option to include Canapes, Individual starters, seated main breakfast and dessert.

Canapes – individually handcrafted
Mini Yorkshire puddings filled with prime Devon beef

Canape size freshly baked scones infused with red pepper

Slow roasted tomato, herb and feta tartlet
served with toasted pitta and herb dip

Selection of individual mini fish cakes with a fresh herb crust
set upon a fresh leaf bed with a chilli and crème fraiche dip

Fan trio of fresh melon
served with fresh raspberries and a raspberry puree

Wedding Breakfast Main – seated waiter service

Freshly caught baked Cod with a herb crust
served with new potato and a courgette ribbon tied seasonal vegetable parcel

Honey glazed slow cooked Devon gammon
served with new potato and a courgette ribbon tied seasonal vegetable parcel

Spicy filled red bell pepper (v)
deep filled with a mix of spicy vegetables, beans and quinoa

Dessert

Handmade Pristacott Apple Crumble
made with Bramley apples from our own orchards, served in an
individual pastry case with a creamy Devon custard and decorated with
dried apple and blueberry

Handmade Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake
with a light ginger crust and topped with a lemon jelly,
finished with mixed berry puree and crystalized blueberries

Rich chocolate and coconut brownie
made to our secret recipe and finished with a dark ganache

Service was completed with freshly roasted coffee and a selection of fine teas served with amaretti biscuits.

Abi & Ben continued their catering experience by treating their evening guests to a fine selection of local and international cheeses served with accompanying biscuits and fresh fruit. In addition, we included our deep filled Devon pasties which include a variety of delicious fillings.
