Megan and Andrew’s wedding at Chulmleigh

Megan and Andrew married in the village church at Chulmleigh, a Saxon village on the mid Devon border, close to the banks of the River Taw Megan arrived, with her bridesmaids to their marquee reception in true Devon style, surrounded by fragrant straw bales, colourful bunting and sat high on the beautifully decorated trailer hitched to one of the farms tractors.

We first met Megan and Andrew when they were looking for a wedding caterer for their summer Devon wedding – we started by sending them a copy of our Wedding Collections menus containing options for Canapes, Starters, Wedding Breakfast, Desserts and evening guest catering. All wedding catering is prepared fresh and from scratch meaning we can include family favourites, tailor the recipes to suit and cater for individual guest requirements.

Together we explored the options for catering, tried a few delicious dishes and created a menu that was perfect for Megan and Andrew’s day.

Canapes – hand-prepared and included;

  • Toasted pitta topped with harissa hummus
    with a pomegranate vinaigrette
  • Miniature Yorkshire puddings
    filled with Devon roast beef, horse radish and crème fraiche
  • Hand-baked individual parmesan scones
    topped with chorizo

with the addition of hand-baked canape sized Devon pork sausage rolls, Sticky squash bite and Devon farmed pork honey glazed canape sausage.

Starters – a guest choice of;

Fan of melon trio
Galia, water and cantaloupe served with fresh raspberry puree

Freshly prepared Chicken liver pate
served with hand baked bruschetta, fresh leaf salad and rosemary

Wedding Breakfast – fully seated waiter service

Megan and Andrew had chosen our handmade deep filled Devon pies

Steak and Ale, Chicken and Leek or Peppered Mushroom and Stilton
served with a creamy mash, rich gravy and a courgette tied seasonal vegetable parcel

Dessert – hand made by Devon Catering

Luxury dark chocolate & orange brownie – made to our secret recipe
topped with rich chocolate ganache, chocolate soil and orange puree

Handmade lemon and blueberry cheese cake on a ginger base
with a mixed berry puree and crystallised blueberries

Service was completed with freshly filtered ground coffee and tea’s complimented with Amaretti biscuits.
