Olivia & Lee’s Wedding at Hayne Devon

Matching the beauty of Oliva and Lee’s wedding venue was the order of the day when choosing their wedding caterer.  Hayne Devon is set among the rolling hills of rural mid Devon, the 17th century threshing barn has been converted into a stunning wedding venue overlooking the beauty and enchantment of 25 acres of gardens.

For the team at Devon Catering capturing this magical location and reflecting it in the wedding catering meant we looked at introducing colour and decorative touches drawing upon the colour in the gardens and the historic nature of Hayne Devon.

Our hand-crafted selection of canapes provided to guests on arrival captured this colour perfectly as we included the rich redness of fresh figs.  Oliva and Lee chose from our Wedding Collection menus for their starters and a choice was offered to guests of freshly prepared Thai mini fish cakes with a rouge sweet chilli dip to accompany, alongside an additional choice of hand-prepared tartlets of vine roasted tomatoes and feta.

The 85 day guests were treated to a delicious choice of main course within the wedding breakfast, using fresh, local ingredients we continued the introduction of colour when creating Ballotine of Devon chicken wrapped in bacon and filled with a sage stuffing, Fresh caught cod rolled in crisp breadcrumbs and a vegetarian option of French Brie, Cranberry and Leek filo baskets.  Dessert continued the colour theme with a cooling Lemon & Blueberry cheesecake or Rich Dark Chocolate Orange Brownie, both of which are made to a special Devon Catering recipe.

Evening guests totalling circa 130 were also treated to the fresh and inspired catering that had been well received by the daytime guests.  Oliva and Lee wished to capture a little piece of Devon for their guests during the evening whilst also providing something hearty, together we chose our very special deep filled pies which included favourites of Steak & Ale or Chicken & Mushroom, alongside a very traditional range of hand-crafted pasties.
