Beckie and Ben’s Wedding at Upton Barn, Exeter
We first met Beckie and Ben when they were searching for a wedding caterer near to Exeter. Their venue, Upton Barn and Walled Garden located just a few miles outside of the historic city of Exeter and surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside.
Upton Barn provides a stunning location combined with the blank canvas that allows wedding couples to make their own choices and create a highly individual day. A venue the team at Devon Catering knows well and enjoy creating the perfect food at.
Beckie and Ben came to meet us for a wedding taster, we shared some individually prepared dishes and talked through their ideas for the day. Our advice and guidance go far beyond just the catering and with the experience of many years, hundreds of weddings and thousands of guests we often guide couples through the planning of their day. Table plans, guest requirements and timings were all considered.
Guests were treated to a full wedding breakfast and canapes that were hand chosen from our Wedding Collection menus, upon arrival their 90 guests were served a selection of our hand-crafted canapes with the bride and groom having their photographs taken in Upton’s ground we prepared a special selection of canapes for them.
The main wedding breakfast was a choice of Poached Salmon with a creamy lemon and dill sauce, a Garlic & Rosemary marinated slow roasted lamb or Devon Chicken Ballotine with caramelised red onion and French brie wrapped with smoked bacon. All were accompanied by a seasonal vegetable parcel held by courgette ribbon and a new potato.
Dessert offered an equally mouth-watering option of our very special and secret recipe Chocolate Orange brownie smoothed with dark chocolate ganache and dressed with orange puree dots and chocolate soil. Also offered was our handmade Treacle Tart encased in a light pasty and served with a fresh whipped vanilla custard or Lemon Mousse served in a shot glass, topped with frosted blueberry and served with our hand-baked shortbread heart.
