The Corn Barn is a lovely wedding venue near Exeter, Devon, it is split into different areas around a central south-facing courtyard and is hired in its entirety so you can use each part of the barn as you choose. The Linhay houses the bar – which of course is important – a glass fronted building that is a great place for welcoming guests, for guests to mingle or to house a late night buffet. The main barn is the centre of this great venue, has beautiful picture windows and can be used for a seated wedding breakfast, then cleared to make room for a dance floor – it also has a great loft area!

With these old barns as a beautiful but blank canvas backdrop, any theme, dream or idea for a wedding can be created in this lovely place and we can create a menu to match.

The Corn Barn has a long history, with the beautiful barns used as a unique wedding venue being in place since the 18th Century. The Devon barn, currently used for serving the wedding breakfast and then dancing afterwards, was originally used for threshing and storing corn – giving the barn its current name. The loft area, now used as a great vantage point or photo opportunity for guests was originally created to house the sacks of corn. For those couples wanting to combine the beauty of the Devon countryside with a historic barn for stunning photographs and the flexibility of a versatile venue to be able to have the wedding they dream of then this is certainly a place to consider.

Take a look at some of the amazing wedding photographs on our Recent Catering Events page to take a look at how we catered for a wedding at The Corn Barn which included welcome drinks, canapes, a three course wedding breakfast and then evening nibbles complete with our incredibly tasty and satisfying pasties.

As a unique mix of Devon Wedding Venue and Small Organic Farm, The Corn Barn not only grow apples for the famous Thatchers Cider on their new orchard, but also serve it on tap on site. They also serve their own unique Scrumpy blend from some onsite ancient cider trees. Many couples love to use traditional cider as a base from which to form their wedding menu. An absolute classic is a traditional Hog Roast which works well in The Corn Barn, think great pulled pork, tasty sides, delicious apple sauce and traditional cider in the beautiful surroundings of the Devon Countryside in a barn – sounds perfect to us!

Other foods that work well with cider include many cheeses, both local and international that can be used in canapes before or after the wedding ceremony. In summer think bright fruity salads and in winter creamy stews. Most game, if served with a fruit sauce or fruit spiced side will work with the local Devon ciders. Deserts that include apples are also a great way to celebrate the cider – apple crumble, sharp apple tarts and even apple ice cream can be included in a ‘cider style’ wedding menu.
